At Restoring Harmony we offer a complete range of Chinese Medicine therapies and Thai massage therapies.
I started my informal studies in Chinese Medicine during the sixteen years I spent in Asia working as a teacher and studying martial arts. To be a Master of martial arts one has to be able to heal as well as harm and I was thus guided towards the practice of Tui Na (acupressure massage) as the most suitable methodology for this. This practice is one of the therapeutic methods of Chinese medicine but we also offer Acupuncture, Herbal medicine, Moxibustion and Cupping.
In 2004 I moved to Australia to begin my formal studies in Chinese medicine and Acupuncture at the National Institute of Health Sciences in Brisbane. I had to leave this course and return to the Isle of Wight to look after my ailing mother and subsequently my father. During this time I continued my studies at the College of Chinese Medicine in London and achieved an Advanced Diploma in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine (MPCHM) with the highest mark the college had ever given.
Though this three year course provided me with a great understanding of ChInese medicine theory and practice I felt that I wanted to continue my studies so I completed two further diploma courses in Chinese Medicine and Syndrome Acupuncture (DCHAc) and Chinese Herbal Material Medica (CHMMD), achieving first prize in both. In total I spent seven years in my formal studies and this included Anatomy and physiology, Pharmacology, Nutritional therapy, Syndrome Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Acupuncture facial rejuvenation, Chinese cosmetology, Electro Acupuncture, FSN technique, Tui Na massage, Cupping therapy and Moxibustion.
I am passionate about Chinese medicine and have achieved excellent results with many common and unusual ailments. In 2014 I passed an exam to be accepted into the ATCM (Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture) MATCM.
During my studies and practice of Martial Arts I received a fourth Dan in Wado Shinpo, a fifth Dan in Mushindo, a black belt in Little nine heaven internal Kung fu and Chen style Tai Chi and am a senior instructor with the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain.
All the herbal medicines I use are in concentrated powder form and have been tested for purity, they do not contain animal products or any dangerous or prohibited herbs. These are made into individualised formulas based on the patient’s syndrome diagnosis.
Acupuncture is performed with incredibly thin disposable needles to minimise discomfort.
I have been treating patients on the Isle of Wight since 2007 and have a Chinese Medicine practice in Newport which I have named Restoring Harmony.
My wife, Nim, was trained in Traditional Thai massage at Wat Po (Temple) in Bangkok and works with me providing therapeutic Traditional Thai massage (a very deep massage system based on a similar meridian system to Chinese medicine) and Herbal Compress therapy.
I am also planning to work with other practitioners on the island to offer a reduced price multiple bed service one day a week for those who can’t afford treatment.
We offer a friendly, caring service with well qualified and experienced practitioners and are dedicated to restoring your harmony.
